Local SEO basics every small business can do this week
You do not need an expensive agency to start showing up on Google Maps and local searches. Start with these six steps.

When someone searches for "dentist near me" or "interior designer in Hyderabad", Google shows a map and a short list of businesses before anything else. Getting into that list is called local SEO. The basics are free, and you can do most of them this week.
1. Claim your Google Business Profile
This is the single biggest step. Search for your business on Google and claim the listing, or create one. Verify it, choose the most accurate main category, and fill in every field: opening hours, phone number, website address, services and a short description in plain language.
2. Keep your details identical everywhere
Your business name, address and phone number should match exactly on your website, your Google listing and any directories or social pages. Small differences, like "Rd" in one place and "Road" in another, can confuse search engines about whether they are the same business.
3. Ask for reviews, then reply to them
Reviews help people choose you and help Google trust you. Ask happy customers politely, at the moment they are most satisfied, and send them a direct link to your review page. Reply to every review, including the critical ones, calmly and helpfully. Never buy reviews or write your own. It breaks Google's rules and customers can usually tell.
4. Give each service its own page
If you offer several services, a separate page for each one gives Google, and your customers, something specific to find. A page called "Teeth whitening in Gachibowli" has a better chance of matching that search than a single page listing everything in one paragraph.
5. Write proper page titles and descriptions
Each page needs a unique title that says what the page is and where you are, for example "Interior Design Studio in Hyderabad | Studio Name". Keep titles under about 60 characters and write a short, honest description of the page for the search result.
6. Use real photos and make the site fast
Photos of your actual shop, team and work build trust. Compress them so pages load quickly on mobile, and add a short description to each image so it is accessible and understood by search engines.
What not to expect
Local SEO is steady, not instant. Most businesses see movement over weeks and months, not days. Anyone promising a first-page ranking in a few days is guessing or cutting corners.
